Of the Harry Potter movies, I would have to say that my favorite is "Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix". It definitely marks the point in the series where things begin to get darker, and you become very aware of Voldemort as more of a sinister threat. You become more aware of the fact that Voldemort is gaining strength by the day.
Also, this marks the true introduction of Dolores Umbridge. Oh my goodness, her character in this movie is portrayed exactly as I imagined her when reading. When she clear her throat? It's EXACTLY as irritating as imagined. They nailed everything about her in this movie, at least so far as I imagined her to be.
Luna also, amazing! Perfect casting, absolutely astounding portrayal. So yeah, that's my favorite of all the movies.

Christmas Day
Today was a good day. I went to bed early this morning after watching 'Runaway Bride' for the third time. That movie is amazing, it never gets old.
It was around one when we finally gathered around the table to eat. We had just gotten done praying and were beginning to pass food around when my older brother started to inspect his fork rather closely. After a few moments of inspection, he looks down the table and asks, "What is this white stuff on my fork?"
Dad answered that it was probably paint and that it'd been there for a long time, and my brother kind of chuckled and answered, "Oh, so lead paint then." We finished passing food and had just began to eat when he breaks and says, "I'm going to need another fork" and tossed his over the the portion of the table near the kitchen.
The dinning room was more than full today so there wasn't really room to get up and roam around.
So mom went to get another fork, and dad began to inspect the discarded one when he then says, "I'm not sure what this is, but I don't think it's paint."
It was an entertaining meal! After we ate we opened presents, and I think each of my nieces really liked the blankets that I made them. I was pretty sure that they would, but even still it's a lot of fun to watch someone open up a gift that you've gotten them and noticeably like it.
We just got done babysitting my little cousins, and are preceding to spend the evening watching t.v. and eating potato chips. Ultimately it's been a day filled with family, and really aren't those the best kinds of days? It's so nice to be home!

Passwords
The annoying thing about having to have a password for everything, is that quite often the password that you use in one instance does not meet the criteria for another password that is needed somewhere else. This of course then means that you have at least a handful of passwords to remember at any given time.
I often forget what variation of password I have used where and end up going through some amount of trial and error before arriving at the correct variation.
It would be so much simpler if you were able to use the same password for all of the different sites and whatnot that need to have a password used for them, or at least if everywhere had the same criteria. Although I suppose the easiest way to simplify the situation would be to use the most complex password in every instance. This way it would meet the more complex criteria, as well as the more simple.
I just got back from seeing The Blind Side, which is the new Sandra Bullock movie that's based upon a true story. It was SO good. I know anyone that I've talked to about it has had nothing but good things to say about it, but I don't know that I was really expecting it to be as good as it was. It is such an inspiring story, and portrayed these christian individuals without making them seem outrageous.
It was just an incredibly uplifting story about a guy who went from being homeless and an orphan to being taken in by this family, accepted as their own, and then going on to college and eventually professional football. I really enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it.
Now I have to start working on a book review blog that I'm supposed to get sent in to my editor tonight. It kind of slipped my mind a bit...

Thanksgiving Day
Today was Thanksgiving, and it was an interesting day to say the least. In fact it could have been less interesting and that would have been fine with me.
As usual we had Aunts, and Uncles and Cousins over for the usual family dinner. We watched the Detroit Lions lose, at a delicious meal and just generally enjoyed each others company. However, unlike most family dinners, we had the weight of my nieces disappearance on our shoulders. Her other grandmother dropped her off at her friends house last night, and then this morning she wasn't there and wasn't answering her phone.
At one point this afternoon I drove into Tecumseh to see if I could find her at one of her friends houses there, and didn't have much luck with my endeavour. Thankfully she finally turned up this evening, though really the trials are just beginning. For the moment we are praying for the strength to weather this present storm.
In other news, I have now determined that though I can drive on empty for sixty miles, seventy-three miles is clearly too far. I most definitely ran out of gas as I was driving to get gas this evening. Dad had to bring me gas, which didn't end up doing the trick, so we then had to use the mini-van to push my car to a local gas station.
It has been an interesting day. At the moment we're watching "My Sister's Keeper", and just taking it easy in general. We shall just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.

Obvious Destination
A large portion of my day was spent in a Barnes and Noble, which makes today a good day. Kristi needed a gift for her friend's birthday, so it was the OBVIOUS place to go. Sarah went along, and then we hung out here at the house before going to see The Ugly Truth which was actually pretty good. It was pretty funny!
Tonight I plan to finish reading Sacred Scars, which is the sequel to Skin Hunger. The sequel is just as awesome as the first book was. Kathleen Duey is a genius.
Darcy is in a snit because my nieces cat Popcorn is over. She doesn't like being cooped up in my room, and yet she has a fit any time she so much as glances the other cat. Joy.

Harry Potter
My new computer came in the mail today! It is so nice to finally have my own computer again. It's a bit of an adjustment, since the computer is so much smaller. While the keys are the same size, they are all closer together and so it's not necessarily possible to "type".
However a tiny computer is better than no computer at all.
I went to see Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince today and it was awesome. Quite literally it was the first Harry Potter movie that I could see myself watching again and not growing bored with it. Here is the thing about the other Potter movies, there is a certain thrill in seeing them the first time because it offered the opportunity to see the book you had read brought to life. Every viewing after the first however was a practice in redundancy. The thrill of all subsequent viewings was then in seeing the climax play out.
With movies one through five it was the end battle scene that always worked to reel me back in because that was where the action was. However, this movie seemed to disassociate from the book the most. It stayed true to the main plot, but it wasn't so verbatim that all I could think about was the book. The other major difference between this movie and the others was the increased acting skills. The acting was so much BETTER in this movie than any of the previous ones.
Another flaw that the other movies often faced was information overload. Too often the directors seemed to trying and cram too much information into such a short film and therefore didn't spent a proper amount of time attending to the plot. Intricate attention to detail is an important feature in literature whereas dialogue plays an important role in the flow of a movie.

The Phone Book
Last night FedEx claimed that my computer would be here today, and today it says that it will be here tomorrow. I can live with it coming in the mail tomorrow, but no later than tomorrow! At the moment I have once more comendeered my brothers computer for the purposes of this blog.
I'm watching 'Made of Honor' at the moment. Really, my day has been about as interesting as this moment. Last night I was awake until two thirty this morning, and didn't even get to watch The Golden Girls. I was occupied watching 'All Time Low's' performance on MTV unplugged and talking to Sarah.

Movie Adaptions
I was anticipating The Golden Girls being on when I got home, but for whatever reason Hallmark has decided to have them on at eleven instead of ten. Oh well.
Tonight was a rather slow night at work, although I kept busy enough so I suppose that's all that really matters. In just under three weeks I'll be leaving the job that I've held for the last two years. It will be strange to not work there anymore. While I can't say that I will necessarily miss the job, I will certainly miss the people.
The movie adaption of Jodi Picoult's "My Sister's Keeper" came out a while ago, and I'm thinking of going to see it at some point this week. I really enjoyed the book, so I'm a little wary of the movie. That is the thing about movie adaptions of books, they rarely translate the way that you envision them and sometimes it's hard to think of them as two separate entities no matter how necessary.
I finished reading "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins last night. It was amazing, and I reviewed it on my other blog.

A Sick Day
At the moment I am watching "Lost in Austen". It's a cute a little movie, and it's plenty diverting. I was supposed to work today, but I woke up with some kind of flu. Thankfully I'm feeling better now, so I'll be going to work tomorrow like I'm supposed to.
I started reading "Alice in Wonderland" for the first time earlier today, and I plan to finish reading it later this evening.
Once again my computer has chosen to torment me. Half of the time the sound will play just fine, and the other half it slows down the speech and then manages to distort it. It is exceedingly annoying, but I am unwilling to do anything about it for the time being and therefore I will attempt not to whine too much. I can only promise to try.
Perhaps tomorrow, once I have actually done something with my time I may have something worth saying. Until then, I return to my movie.

Deadline Crunch
I am getting fairly good at this whole "wait until an hour from my deadline and then scramble to post" thing. I swear it's not intentional. At least not completely. I will admit that perhaps there is some part of me that puts this off in the hopes that SOMETHING will happen that will be worth writing about.
It's been a fairly standard day once again. I spent a portion of the early afternoon at my sisters house, assisting her with her computer and homework. The larger portion of the day was then spent lost in Shannon Hale's "Austenland". I have been completely absorbed in it all day, and will finish reading it before the night is through.
I finished reading "Moon Called" by Patricia Briggs early this morning, and I loved that book too. Now that I have been thoroughly boring, I will go finish watching "Confessions of a Shopaholic".

Miss Austen Regrets
Last night I watched "Miss Austen Regrets", which is a movie made by the BBC about Jane Austen. It was based off of her letters. The interesting thing about the movie is that it wasn't made as a documentary, but rather in the same form as the movie adaptions of her novels.
I really enjoyed it. It was an interesting look at who Jane was.
She was known to refer to her novels as her dear children, and I think that makes a lot of sense when the circumstances in which she lived are considered. At that time women did not stand to inherit and therefore were reliant on either marriage or the generosity of their brothers and/or married sisters for their security. Jane never married, and neither did her sister Cassandra. To further complicate things her family was never very wealthy. Once her father died, Jane along with her mother and sister then had to look to her brothers for support and the sale of of her novels. Although the money made from her novels was not near enough to support them.
Anyway, moving back to her statement regarding her novels being her dear children... In each of her novels her heroine's were given the option that she never was. They were able to marry for love without the pressure of money, because in every case either they had the money or the man they fell in love with did.
The movie gave the impression that Jane never married, because she knew that to do so would take away her freedom. She seemed to fear that she would no longer be able to write because she would then be too busy raising children and caring for a house. This probably wasn't too far off the mark, in which case it makes sense for her not to have married. How could she unless she had truly been in love? Freedom is too dear a thing to relinquish.

Unproductive
At this precise moment I am watching "Miss Austen Regrets". It's a Jane Austen movie based upon letters actually written by her to family and friends. I am withholding opinions until I have watched the whole of it. Perhaps tomorrow I shall share my opinions of it.
Today I have felt largely unproductive. Though I did manage to re-work a portion of the second chapter of my novel. It's coming along at any rate. Most likely when I've finished it I will begin posting it on my Fiction Press account.
I did finish reading "Beastly" by Alex Flinn today and it was excellent, as I expected that it would be. It's a modern re-telling of Beauty and the Beast told from the perspective of the Beast. The characters were fun and the plotting was executed effectively.

3.5 Hours
So I opted to watch the movie last night, which turned into this morning and resulted in my garnering approximately three and half hours of sleep before having to get up and go to work. Perhaps it wasn't the greatest idea, but I can't say that I wouldn't make the same decision over again. I'm a glutton for sleep deprivation, obviously.
It was a busy day at work today. They had me out of my department and running a register on two separate occasions. Although it's nice to stay busy I guess, it makes the time go by faster. Now if only they would learn to turn on the air conditioning...
In other work related news, I'd like to relay this exchange I had with a customer at some point during the last hour of my shift.
ME: Hello.
Customer: Hey beautiful, how's it going?
ME: (Deciding not to address comment, but avoid being rude.) I'm good, how are you?
Customer: Good. Good. [pause, smile] You know your name, or you should. [walks off]
I'm fairly certain that I have pointed this out before, but I continue to be baffled so I think it's alright to repeat the inquiry. Why do you older men feel that it is incumbent upon them to react in this manner when a female retail employee greats them? And, further how the hell do you even respond? To respond by denying their statement results in the inevitable possibility of prolonged conversation in which they assert that you are wrong. This defeats the goal of ending the awkward situation. However, to accept or seem to accept the compliment also inevitably leads to some perception of conceit.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not super annoyed with situation described above. I'm just curious, and it was an interesting piece to include here. Anyway, the deal with the guy today was far preferable to Hickey Guy. Eh. All in all it was just another day in the world of corporate owned retail.

Jane Austen
I ordered the latest movie version of "Sense and Sensibility", and it came in the mail the other day. At the moment I am entertaining the idea of watching it. On the one hand, it sounds like an excellent idea, and on the other I have to be in to work early tommorow morning. It's a tough call, and at the moment I am leaning towards watching the movie. What is sleep when compared to a movie adaption of one of Jane Austen's books? The choice is very clear, OBVIOUSLY.
I did manage to go to my local used bookstore, also known as The Book Abbey. Though they didn't have any of the books that I was looking for, I was able to find a few books that a soon determined I could not live without. I have a problem, but I at least I admit it right?
My youngest niece expressed an interest the other day in reading "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", so today I went out and bought her a copy which I'll hopefully be able to pass along in the next couple days along with one of my copies of "Pride and Prejudice". Yes, I have more than one copy. I like to promote reading whenever I can, and if it's Jane Austen or at least relative to that then all the better.

Goal Nearly Met
Alright, so I still haven't managed to finish reading "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". I am however about fifty pages from the end, so barring distraction there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to finish reading it tonight. There is still time!
I will do my best not to be distracted...
It figures that today was rather on the chilly side, because it was my day off and obviously it would be blasphamous for it to be nice out. It looks like it may warm up for the weekend, which is unsurprising since I am scheduled to work tommorow through Saturday. Lovely. This is the way that my life works.
Sarah came over today and watched "He's Just Not That Into You" with me. The movie was good, but not as good as I was thinking it would be. Thankfully it was enjoyable enough that it wasn't a waste of time, which is always a good thing.
It seems like I had more to say before I actually sat down and took the time to write this, but now I can't remember any of it. Obviously it couldn't have been all that important...
